Our Profile Pic for Pingg!
And the rejects...

Today we had our own little photo shoot. In need for a good photo of the two of us for a new site we are joining, Pingg. It's a great site that provides free e-invites and you should be able to find us under the Designer Series very soon! Here are some of the rejects. Im not sure the one we chose was much better but we had a lot of fun!

Inspirational Day at the Beach

Hand Twins spent the day at Fort Funston where they enjoyed the beautiful scenery!

Our good friend Krystle made us some awesome handmade wrapping paper. Maybe Hand Twins will be inspired and start creating their own patterns and prints!

Day at the Studio

MMMMMM...breakfast!

Jess has always loved strawberries so naturally why wouldn't she do an illustration to express her passion for the scrumptious fruit. The idea began when Jess decided to grow some strawberries on her back porch. She eats them every morning for breakfast so she decided why not grow her own!
Every summer Jess would grow strawberries with her parents in their family garden. She decided it would be a great idea to dedicate this card to her mom for always letting her grow them even though she didn't always take care of them. We came up with a sketch and headed to the studio! We spent a long day at the studio screen printing the Mother's Day Card! We had a little trouble with the screens but we definitely got some good prints out of it. Check them out on our Etsy shop through the link on our page!

Some Special Events in the Past

Dear Interweb:
For our first blog topic we would like to catch up on some of the past events that Hand Twins has attended. We had another blog (www.handtwins.com) but someone lost the password and now we can only look back longingly at our awesome URL that we can no longer use.
One of the first events that we attended was the Renegade Craft Fair at Fort Mason in San Francisco. (http://www.renegadecraft.com/) It's a large scale DIY event with some really amazing independent artists. The fair travels all over the U.S. from New York City to Austin to L.A. Hand Twins hopes to be a part of Renegade one day, but for now we are happy to be inspired, and spend all of our money supporting some very talented artists.

Megan and Jess both work very hard on Hand Twins projects but also do a lot of work separately. Megan is a member at The Graphic Arts Workshop, a printmaking cooperative (http://www.graphicartsworkshop.org/) where she does all of her printing. She participated in their Open Studio event that we all attended. She sold a couple of her own pieces and even some Hand Twins journals. It was awesome to meet the other artist at the co-op and see all the different types of work they do.

After Meg's show in October of 2009, Jess had a group show in February 2010 at the Artist X-change in the Mission District in San Francisco. The theme was Love at First site to celebrate Valentine's Day. Once again, we all came out to support and enjoy free wine and cheese.
